This Sony STR-DH820 has been designed for simple use and easy functions. The Sound Optimizer (auto calibration) is a function which sets the balance of your speakers by working out the distance between each speaker, and volume from its location, this means you can have a great home theatre setup without having the know-how. also X.V. Faroudja DCDi adjusts picture settings from Blu-Ray or DVD sources to make movies look as authentic as the original.
This system incorporates 'Bravia Sync', this allows a one touch control over your Bravia TV with any other Bravia Sync enabled products. So you only need to have 1 remote control to operate all of your home theatre equipment. With the Optical input you can connect your Sky, Virgin, Freeview or Freesat tuner for cinematic sound whilst watching your TV.
With the 4 x HDMI inputs, you can plug various devices into this unit, and play them all through your TV even if you only have the 1 HDMI connection. This means you can connect your DVD / Blu-Ray player, Sky / Virgin / Freeview / Freesat tuner, PS3 or other gaming console all at the same time. The rear speakers are ready to be set up for wireless connection with the S-Air digital wireless unit (not included).

This STR-DH820 has an 96k PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) 24 bitstream. This is a loss-less system unlike MP3 format the PCM will deliver a true representation of the original source. In comparison MP3 is a lossy-format which when data is lost the sound may become coarse and therefore lose significant quality.
