Speaker Stands

Audiophiles recognise the importance of choosing the right stands to compliment their speakers. Good quality ones will not transmit sound waves through the units so need to be sturdy as well as isolating the speaker from the floor and vice versa. Spikes will enhance the sound but floor-standing speakers shouldn't use spikes unless necessary as they increase vibration between the stand and the floor. If you want to increase friction and prevent the stands moving then use spikes but rubber bumpers should also be considered. Bookshelf speakers don't always optimise sound if placed in bookshelves as sound will be dissipated through whatever they're on or close to. Speaker stands need stability not only for audio but also for more practical reasons. If you have children or pets playing or running around you need to make sure your stands are solid, robust and stable enough not to move unnecessarily letting your speakers fall.
