Konosuke Matsushita, born in 1894, founded Panasonic in 1918 initially selling duplex lamp sockets. Panasonic invented a new type of bike lamp in 1923 then in 1931 designed and built a three tube radio. 1935 was a big year for Panasonic when they launched their first television and to this day Panasonic are a major player in the TV industry along with other electrical products worldwide. This year also saw Panasonic entering the overseas market and their number of employees was rising rapidly, along with their profits!

From their humble beginnings with 3 employees, Panasonic has grown to become one of the world's biggest electronics and electrical companies employing nearly 300,000 people worldwide.
