The Samsung UE40D8000YUXXU is part of Samsung's latest range of Premium 3D Television building on the previous generation and is part of Samsung's new OneDesign range of televisions. One Design is a marvel of engineering and shining example of Samsung's investment in design and challenging the way TVs look. The OneDesign style for the D8000 Television has allowed Samsung to create a bezel width of 5mm, this in turn allows you to get a bigger screen size in a smaller frame. The bezel features a stylish brushed aluminium design that highlights the striking design of the 3D Television. Not only having an ultra slim bezel design, Samsung has managed to attain its ultra slim design of under 24mm in depth.

This is my first flat TV (previously a 28" Philips CRT) and I eagerly anticipated this set from the CES 2011 previews. Whilst HD content is generally spectacular (Blue Planet made my jaw drop), some material suffers badly from motion blur, and no amount of adjusting settings helps. I'm particularly referring to snooker - the balls, the players, the audience all lose detail in a way that just doesn't happen on a CRT (on both BBC2 upscaled from SD, and on Eurosport HD)Overall Value Build Quality Ease Of Use Style / Design Price
I decided on the D8000 as it represented the state of the art. I think the technology needs another few years to improve :( (Posted on 26 April 2011)

If you require a card, is it the same principal as freesat from Sky? - Hello,
Yes all you need is a Sky satelite dish to receive the Freesat signal on this television.No smartcard would be needed

- was thinking of buying the ue40c8000 but just found the ue40d8000 on your site what are there big differences in these two tvs apart from ones led and the others plasma
- The UE40C8000 is the current release of the 8000 Series LED TV from Samsung. The UE40D8000 will be its replacement for the series and is also an LED Television. Some differences include a slimmer bezel at just 5mm for the new unit, new 3D glasses technology whereby the glasses now sync by bluetooth rather than infrared which significantly reduces some of the issues found in the previous generation of TVs such as loosing sync. Furthermore the latest televisions now come with an integral Freesat HD option to supplement the Freview HD option. New 2D and 3D technologies that focus on increasing contrast, reducing cross talk and providing a much clearer, stronger picture.

- Thank you for your last response. Just a couple more questions about the UE40D8000;
(1) With the Integrated Freesat HD - do you still need a dish and if so does that need to be bought separately;
(2) Am I right in saying the unit is 800 Hz - 600 Hz more than the UE40C8000;
(3) I did hear the remote is the same or similar to the Series 9 Remote - is this the case?
(4) Are there any options for increasing the warranty period?
Thank you for all your help, your answers will be much appreciated. - (1) The unit features an integrated Freesat HD Tuner which means that it can decode a Freesat signal and display this on the TV. You would still need to connect the TV up to an external satellite dish which can be sold separately.
(2) This unit features 800 Hz Clear Motion Technology. However it does not mean its 600 Hz more than the previous. Every manufacture, and even generations of TV from the manufacture, feature different technology and the number does not directly reflect. In the simple terms, this is a 400 Hz TV that introduces new technologies to provide an effect of 800 updates. We will producing a more through guide, article regarding this in the future.
(3) We believe the unit will come with a standard premium remote control. This is due to some technical issues with the touch screen remote that forced the unit to be recalled. We are not sure at the moment if this will be introduced at a later date as an external accessory. Once we have further information this will be reflected in our online advertisement.
(4) We can offer extended cover for 3 and 5 Years. At the time of writing we offer these at £143.00 and £224.00 respectively. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No
