My review after having this for a month.I've had a panasonic LS-85 portable DVD player for a few years now which has served me well but thought it was time to move on to Bluray. I chose this Sony over the equivilant Panasonic model because of it's style. I was sceptical at first because some reviewers elsewhere said this was a noisy device where you could hear this disc spinning. I think these reviewers are nit picking because the noise is no more than any other model when playing standard DVD's and yes there is a little more noise when playing a Bluray DVD. However this noise is barely noticeable at a normal viewing distance and then only when a quiet passage or no sound is being played.
