PR: The Flying Scotsman Comes to Town
Iconic Steam Locomotive “The Flying Scotsman” to visit Rawtenstall this Weekend
Unlike most posts Simply Electricals publish, this one is about technology from a bygone era and is also about your chance to see the most famous of all Steam Locomotives, in Rawtenstall over the next 2 weekends.
The steam train, originally built in 1923 is expected to make several trips between Bury, Heywood and Rawtenstall Railway Station whilst pulling carriages over this weekend and the weekend of January 16th 2016.
A Rare Opportunity
This is the first outing the Flying Scotsman has had in over a decade and thousands are expected to line the route, eager to see the steam train in action again.
Unfortunately, tickets to actually ride on the train sold out some time ago, but you can purchase a station ticket at Rawtenstall Station for just £3 and see the Scotsman up close in all its historic glory.
It is not know when or if the locomotive will be active again any time in the near future, as it is expected to return National Railway Museum next year, so if you want to see it as it meant to be seen, now’s the time!
On all 4 days the timetables for seeing the train at Rawtenstall are all the same and are as follows;
9.33am - 9.50am , 12.03pm - 12.20pm, 2.33pm - 2.50pm & 5.03pm - 5.20pm
(During these times, the locomotive will arrive, stand for viewing and turn in time for its departure)
From Historic to Modern Day Innovation
By standing on the shoulders of Industrial giants like Sir Nigel Gresley, the man who designed and built the Flying Scotsman, modern day tech minds have been able to create modern day wonders like Curved Screen Nanocrystal technology and Quantum Dot Colouring.
Whilst out seeing cutting edge innovation from the past, why not pop in and see us at Simply Electricals in Rawtenstall to see what today’s cutting edge tech has to offer. Our friendly staff can showcase everything that’s new in home entertainment and kitchen appliances.
Just make sure you wrap up warm while you’re waiting for the Flying Scotsman to arrive!
Hope to see you soon.
